MYTH BUSTING: "I'm too old to learn the violin"

(Hint: you're not!)

Let’s be honest. How often do you think about learning the violin, only to quickly dismiss it as impossible? “I’m too old.” “I’m too busy.” “Too late for that.”

Adults: it’s never too late to learn the violin (or any instrument), no matter your age or time commitments. Learning to play a musical instrument can help you focus and lead to a better life.

Many of my students didn't start playing the violin until they were in their thirties, forties, or even fifties, and it has brought them so much joy. Or they learnt for a while in adolescence but left it behind only to find that they remember far more about how to play than they thought.

Adults learn just as well as younger folks whether they are a total beginner or rekindling an old love. The key is regular practice, not youth. I have come to understand this well through my years of teaching experience.

Sincerely, I believe you can learn to play the violin at any age regardless of your current skill level. You don’t need prior musical training or an expensive instrument. Just enthusiasm and willpower is more than enough.

In learning the violin you will train your ability to focus your mind on something creative and beautiful. It will be challenging but fulfilling.

You can learn on your own using online resources. But it's often faster to take lessons from a professional. I would encourage you to start with small goals, practice a little daily (even 10 minutes is enough, although 30 mins is ideal), and eventually to join an ensemble.

Here at learnhowtomusic.com I can give you all the tools you need to start playing the violin. I will teach you: how to hold a violin and bow, how to read music, how to practice, and how to fall in love with your instrument. Contact me now and start making beautiful music.
